ARTIST'S Bios
CHRISTIAN FAUR’S primary medium is oil on canvas and encaustic on wood, where he layers images of the human form with texts and numeric patterns. For his most recent exhibit Aggregate States, Christian has layered coded language with human and landscape imagery using thousands of handmade crayon tips as his medium. His paintings are exhibited nationally and are enthusiastically sought after by collectors. Christian’s involvement with digital technologies has led him to work with photography, video, computer programming and robotics. Christian is the Director of Collaborative Technologies in the Arts at Denison University.
A percussionist and photographer by training, AARON FULEKI has focused in electronic media since the early days of the Macintosh and Commodore/Amiga computer systems. Since then he has delved into UNIX programming, MaxMsp, and much soldering. The main foci of Aaron's current work are programmatic/performed sound, generative synthesis, network systems, and geospatialization, as well as aleatoric and formal composition. In addition to his performance and installation work, Aaron has lectured and consulted in the areas of web design, programming, sound editing, and geographic information systems, both in the U.S. and abroad. Aaron is a founding member of the alternative synth-pop band ThouShaltNot, whose fourth album "Land Dispute" was released internationally last May.
SANDRA MATHERN has been dancing and creating work for nearly 20 years and has an ongoing commitment to working collaboratively and in improvisation as a performance form. Her interest in collaboration stems from a desire to share and exchange ideas and discover connections, and lies in an interest in combining disparate ways of perceiving and expressing. Her collaborative works have incorporated video-projected backdrops, live music, poetic text, and set designs and have included artists of many disciplines: video, visual art, poetry and music. She has had the privilege of performing with such veteran improvisers as K.J. Holmes, Karen Nelson and David Beadle. Sandra has received Individual Artist Fellowships in Choreography from the Ohio Arts Council. Since 1983 she has been awarded over twenty grants for her work from various organizations including the Ohio Arts Council, Arts Midwest, and Target Stores Foundation. Her work has been presented throughout the U.S.
ALEXANDER’ MOUTON’S interests lie in the poetic and narrative possibilities of sequencing images. As an artist he explores the potential that new technology has for bringing visual and sound arts together for interactive and immersive works both online and in physical spaces. Working collaboratively is key to his artistic process and he has been involved in many projects internationally over the last 15 years. Alexander’s work explores the territory between linear and non-linear narrative and often alludes to the unknown, whether investigating individual psychology, relations between people, or social issues. His Unseen Press regularly produces limited edition artists’ books that are in collections internationally including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Kunst Bibliothek in Berlin, Germany
